Meet the Team

Dr Margaret Lyons

Dr Margaret Lyons - BSc (Hons) MSc, DClinPsy

I am a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in supporting children and their families. I have over eight years of experience working across different NHS mental health services in a variety of roles. This includes gaining experience in a range of different Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

Alongside my work with The Family Psychology Practice, I currently work within a specialist CAMHS team that offers intensive therapeutic support within a child’s home. I specialise in supporting young people with a range of difficulties, such as anxiety, low mood, behavioural difficulties, disordered eating, trauma and adjusting to a physical health condition or neuro-developmental diagnosis such as Autism or ADHD.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained in a variety of different therapies. My approach is integrative, meaning I often combine different therapies in a way that that best meets the needs of the child and family. This often includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Attachment-based Therapies. My aim is to create a warm and welcoming space in therapy, and help young people and their families feel empowered to take steps towards achieving their goals.

Outside of work, I enjoy long countryside walks with family, friends and my beloved dog.
