Meet the Team
Dr Emily Dixon
Dr Emily Dixon - BSc (Hons), MSc, DClinPsy
I am a Clinical Psychologist with experience working across a range of mental health settings, including six years within the NHS.
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, families, and adults, supporting a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties including low mood, anxiety, self-criticism and relationship difficulties. This breadth of experience has shaped my flexible and responsive approach to therapy, allowing me to tailor my work to each person’s unique needs and context.
I aim to offer a gentle, thoughtful, and collaborative space where we can co-create meaning and develop a deeper understanding of your experiences. I am particularly drawn to exploring how early relational experiences have shaped one’s sense of self and emotional wellbeing, as I believe that safe, connected relationships provide the fundamental foundations to wellbeing. In my work, I use the therapeutic relationship as central to meaningful change.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systemic and narrative approaches, alongside psychodynamic and acceptance-based ideas. My work is grounded in attachment theory, and I take a relational perspective, which means understanding our difficulties in the context of our relationships with others and with different parts of ourselves.
In my free time, I enjoy grounding myself in nature and spending time outdoors. I love hiking, skiing, camping, scuba diving and seeking out new adventures.
